Identity Theft
Identity theft is considered by the FBI, as the fastest growing crime.
For an example in a study that was released in 2003. Over 19,000 new cases were being reported everyday.
This is 3 years later. So you can imagine how bad things are getting.
Here is an example.

You and your family are enjoying a quite evening. No worries. Just having some quality time.
But
While your having fun, so is this guy

He got your personal credit card numbers out of the trash. You through them away. Now he is having fun spending your money.
It can really happen fast. So don't let yourself fall victim to this.
By doing even the smallest things, you can try and prevent your identity being used by someone else.
It takes time and discipline. But hopefully you can avoid identity theft and stay safe.

Here are some great tips on how to avoid Identity Theft:

Don't carry your Social Security card on you, keep it at home

Keep any additional credit cards at home that you are not using

Don't put your social security number on your checks. Someone could easily get it

Don't put important papers in the trash.
- Try and give your mail to the postal carrier or put it in the box a little while before that mail carrier comes
But there are some other ways to also help win the war against Identity Theft:

Do get a paper shredder and use it!

Do check your credit reports every so often to check for inaccuracies

Do try and remove yourself from pre-opt lists where this will limit how many credit card offers that you get

Do try and record every piece of information that you carry in your purse or wallet. This will be very valuable if your purse or wallet is ever stolen

Do try and cancel all unused credit card accounts that you may have.
