Credit Report Check Up

Step 1 - Credit Reports

Ok so now we move into our Steps for Success.

Our first step after a Bankruptcy is to check out your credit report.

This is very vital to make sure that your credit report is showing accurate information. You don't want to be trying to get new credit cards and auto loans after your bankruptcy and have your credit reporting showing that you still owe your account balances.

So it is very important to check it.

What you want to look for is accounts still owing a balance. If you included them into your bankruptcy, they should state that they are.

For an example:

Example Bank

Acct #

balance $1,000

Late: 6 times at 120 days

This is an example of what you need to get fixed. Now our version is quite simple. Your actual credit report will state a lot more information, but for education purposes we will keep it simple.

So what we are looking for is to see if your credit report is stating that you have included this account into your discharged bankruptcy or not. Also does your credit report still show that you have an outstanding balance?

These are things that we need to take care of before you try and rebuild your credit after your bankruptcy.
